A Different Kind of Teaching

The PACE Alliance Dutch Greeters recently had the pleasure of welcoming a new member to our community, Kaurie Marinkovich, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate her new role as a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones – Scott Van Tasell, CFP. As she steps into this exciting chapter, Kaurie brings with her a unique blend of experiences, a passion for teaching, and a deep connection to our community.

Kaurie, originally from Knoxville, has made her home in Pella with her husband, Marco, and their two young children. A Central College graduate, Kaurie’s roots in the area run deep. “Central College is actually how I originally met Scott. I played golf with his daughter at Central. So, I’ve known Scott for a long time,” Kaurie shared, reflecting on the serendipitous connection that eventually led her to Edward Jones.

Before embarking on her financial advising career, Kaurie spent a decade in the classroom. Her love for teaching is evident as she recounts her journey: “After college, I actually became a teacher. I taught high school and middle school math in both Montezuma and Pella for 10 years.”

But in August of 2022, a phone call from Scott Van Tasell changed everything. “I got a phone call from Scott, and he asked me what I thought about becoming a financial advisor and working with him at Edward Jones,” Kaurie recalled. At first, the idea took her by surprise. “It never even crossed my mind,” she recalled. However, after some thoughtful conversations and thorough research, Kaurie realized this was a gateway to possibilities that she couldn’t pass up.
“I loved teaching. Both of my parents were teachers for 35 years, but this opportunity to work in the community and help people is just a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I am so happy to be here. I thrilled to have made the change,” she said.
In many ways, Kaurie is still teaching—just in a different setting. As a financial advisor, she’s passionate about educating her clients, ensuring they understand their investments and financial decisions. “I’m all about teaching people, not just telling them. I want them to understand,” Kaurie emphasized.

Planning For the Future

Kaurie’s journey with Edward Jones has been marked by intense training and preparation. The firm’s commitment to building strong relationships is something that resonates deeply with her. “Edward Jones is big on relationships as well as the financial side of things. I’m excited to build these relationships and help clients feel comfortable with their investments,” she said.

As Kaurie settles into her role, she’s eager to offer a wide range of services, from retirement planning and life insurance to short-term goals like saving for a vacation or wedding. Her approach is rooted in open communication, taking the time to get a full picture of her clients’ needs and aspirations. “I value communication and want my clients to feel confident in their financial future,” Kaurie explained.

Already, Kaurie has made her mark on the PACE community, participating in networking events and Thursdays in Pella. Her love for the community is clear, and we’re delighted to have her as part of the PACE family. Kaurie Marinkovich is not just a financial advisor; she’s a teacher, a mentor, and an asset to Pella.
